Always Share Ideas and Concerns

Conduct regular strategy meetings. Give each team member the opportunity to open up or discuss about project activities, share status updates, ideas, and even concerns. Having the opportunity to discuss all the things that are going on with a project and even in the workplace will help your team members fee appreciated, cared for, and happy to talk.

Keep Everyone Involved

When you hold stand ups or send out any reports, you need to make sure that all team members are involved. It’s always beneficial to have more inputs and ideas from the maximum number of people, rather than just a few key players. You need to get your role players involved too.

It’s important that employees have access to any information they need at any point in time. We all get distracted at times, and it is imperative that information is recorded so it can be referenced later. Having access to information anytime would be beneficial to anyone the team, and increases transparency.

Listen More Than You Speak

One of the best ways to encourage open and honest communication within a group is to model active listening. When someone is speaking to you, really listen to what they’re saying. Ask follow-up questions to demonstrate that you’re paying attention and to make sure there are no miscommunications. Keep an open mind and focus on thoughtfully responding to what they say. This practice builds rapport and understanding.

Be Social

Oftentimes the best way to have a better communication is simply to be social. This doesn’t mean that your team should be active on social media. It means that every company or organization needs to invest time and money into activities or events where team members can get to know each other on a personal level.

One such activity would be doing team building events. Not only this will increase team unity, team camaraderie, and communication, this is also a great way to avoid work burnouts that will have a negative effect on the results of a project.
